  • 1 pound sausage You can use spicy sausage for some heat.
  • 1 bag (30 ounces) frozen hash browns Fresh hash browns can be used as a substitute.
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded You can substitute with other cheeses like pepper jack.
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through. Drain excess fat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the hash browns, cooked sausage, and 1 1/2 cups of cheddar cheese.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Pour the egg mixture over the hash brown mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 45-50 minutes until the casserole is golden brown and set in the center.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for 3 to 4 days or freeze for longer storage. Try adding vegetables like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition.
