Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 4 cups All-purpose flour Can substitute with whole wheat flour for a heartier option.
  • 2 tbsp Instant yeast If using active dry yeast, let it proof in warm water for a few minutes before mixing.
  • 1/2 cup Sugar Brown sugar can be used for a caramel flavor.
  • 1 tsp Salt Enhances flavor.
  • 1 cup Milk Can substitute with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • 1/4 cup Butter Coconut oil works for a dairy-free option.
  • 2 tbsp Vanilla extract Vanilla bean paste can be used for a stronger flavor.
Glaze Ingredients
  • 2 cups Powdered sugar Adjust based on your sweetness preference.
  • 2 tbsp Milk To mix with powdered sugar for the glaze.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Mix well.
  2. In a separate bowl, heat the milk and butter until warm but not boiling. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Rising
  1. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Cut into strips and roll each strip into a spiral shape. Place them in a greased baking dish.
  2. Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes until puffed.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
Glazing
  1. While the rolls cool, whisk together powdered sugar and a bit of milk until smooth and pourable.
  2. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls and serve.

Notes

Store leftover rolls in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can freeze the baked rolls wrapped tightly in plastic wrap and foil for up to 2 months. To reheat, pop them in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes or microwave for 20-30 seconds.
