Ingredients
  

For the Bars
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Frosting
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract For frosting.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until fully mixed.
  6. Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown on top.
  7. Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan.
Frosting and Serving
  1. For the frosting, beat together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a bowl until smooth.
  2. Once cooled, spread the frosting over the cookie bars evenly.
  3. Cut into squares and enjoy! Optional: Add colorful sprinkles on top.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for 3-5 days. They can be refrigerated but separate layers with parchment paper to prevent sticking. For a thicker frosting, add more powdered sugar.
