Ingredients
  

For the Julep
  • 10 leaves Fresh mint leaves Use sprigs for garnish and muddle a few for maximum flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey Can substitute with agave syrup or simple syrup.
  • 2 ounces Bourbon Choose a good quality bourbon.
  • 1 cup Crushed ice Crush ice in a bag with a rolling pin.
  • 1 wedge Lemon (optional) Adds a tangy contrast.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add about 10 fresh mint leaves along with honey. Gently muddle to release the oils.
  2. Pour in the bourbon over the muddled mint and honey mixture. Give it a gentle stir to combine.
  3. Take a julep cup or highball glass and fill it with crushed ice, piling it high.
  4. Strain the bourbon and mint mixture over the crushed ice. Add more ice on top if desired.
  5. Garnish with a mint sprig and if desired, a lemon wedge.
  6. Sip and enjoy the refreshing goodness!

Notes

Muddle gently to not shred the mint too much. Adjust sweetness based on preference. Chill the glass for a frosty drink.
