Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together the old-fashioned oats, flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt. Set this aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until it’s fluffy and light.
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and M&Ms until they’re evenly distributed in the dough.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto your prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10–12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. The centers might look slightly underbaked—that's okay!
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking to help the cookies keep their shape better. Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or a few chopped nuts for extra flavor.
