Prepare the Dough
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper if not using a stone.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the olive oil and warm water to the dry ingredients. Stir with a spoon or your hands until a shaggy dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for 1-2 minutes until it comes together into a relatively smooth ball. Do not overknead.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions for two individual pizzas.
Assemble the Pizza
- Lightly flour your work surface and a rolling pin. Take one portion of dough and roll it out into a thin circle, about 8-10 inches in diameter. The thinner you roll it, the crispier your crust will be.
- Carefully transfer the rolled-out dough onto the preheated pizza stone or the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread half of the pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle with half of the shredded mozzarella cheese, then add your desired toppings (like pepperoni, mushrooms) and a pinch of dried oregano or red pepper flakes.
Bake and Serve
- Bake in the preheated oven for 10-14 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly with slightly browned spots.
- Carefully remove the pizza from the oven. Let it cool for 2-3 minutes before slicing and serving. Repeat with the second dough portion and remaining toppings.
Notes
For an extra crispy bottom, lightly brush the bottom of the rolled-out dough with a little olive oil before adding toppings. This dough can also be used for flatbreads. Get creative with your toppings – anything from fresh vegetables to cooked meats works well! This recipe makes two individual pizzas, perfect for customizing each half.
