Ingredients

Cake Ingredients
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 0.25 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 0.5 tsp salt
Frosting
  • 1 cup whipped chocolate frosting

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, sugar, and oil until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
Baking
  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan.
  2. Add spoonfuls of chocolate batter on top, then swirl to create a marbled effect.
  3. Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow to cool before frosting with whipped chocolate frosting.

Notes

Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for better mixing. Use a knife to swirl the chocolate batter thoroughly for a more defined marble effect.
