Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and line a loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, eggs, and milk to create the red heart batter. Pour it into a heart-shaped mold and bake until set. Let it cool.
Make the Loaf Batter
  1. In another bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In a separate large bowl, combine the sugar, eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix well until fluffy.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mix, stirring gently until just combined.
Assemble and Bake
  1. Pour half the loaf batter into the prepared loaf pan. Place the cooled heart in the center and cover with remaining batter.
  2. Bake in the oven for about 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  3. Let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for better mixing. Don't overmix the batter. Chill the heart layer to prevent sinking during baking. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
