Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces Salmon collars Can substitute with salmon fillets if collars are unavailable.
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil Can substitute with avocado oil for a higher smoke point.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce Tamari can be used for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon Honey or maple syrup Adds sweetness to balance the savory.
  • 2 cloves Garlic Freshly minced, can use garlic powder in a pinch.
  • 1 bunch Fresh herbs Such as parsley or dill for garnish and flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, mix together olive oil, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, and your choice of herbs to make the marinade.
  2. Place the salmon collars in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Let them marinate for at least 15 minutes or up to an hour.
  3. Preheat your grill: for charcoal, wait until the coals are covered in white ash; for gas, preheat on medium-high.
Grilling
  1. Place the marinated salmon collars skin-side down on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes depending on their thickness.
  2. Carefully flip the collars and grill for another 3-5 minutes until they are cooked through and flaky.
  3. Remove the collars from the grill and let them rest for a couple of minutes before serving. Garnish with extra herbs if desired.

Notes

Don't overcook the salmon as it continues to cook off the grill. Use a fish basket for easier flipping if concerned about sticking. Experiment with different marinades like citrus juices or sriracha for varied flavors. Serve alongside steamed veggies or salad.
