Preparation
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil. Add the pasta and cook according to package directions until al dente. It's important not to overcook it, as it will be cooked again.
- Drain the cooked pasta thoroughly using a colander. Rinse briefly with cold water to prevent sticking and stop the cooking process. Shake off excess water.
- Transfer the drained pasta to a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat evenly. Sprinkle in the Italian seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Toss again until all the pasta pieces are well-coated with the seasoning.
Air Frying
- If your air fryer requires preheating, set it to 375°F (190°C) and preheat for 3-5 minutes.
- Place the seasoned pasta in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd it. You will likely need to work in 2-3 batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket every 4-5 minutes, until the pasta is golden brown, crispy, and crunchy. Cooking times may vary based on your air fryer model.
Serving
- Transfer the crispy air fryer pasta chips to a serving dish. If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese while still warm. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces like marinara or ranch dressing.
Notes
Storage: Leftover pasta chips can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, but they are best enjoyed fresh. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes to regain crispness.
Flavor Variations: Experiment with different seasonings! Try taco seasoning, smoked paprika with chili powder, or lemon pepper for a twist. A sprinkle of nutritional yeast can add a cheesy flavor without dairy.
Dipping Sauces: These chips are fantastic with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, pesto, creamy garlic dip, or even a spicy sriracha mayo.
