Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish.
  3. In a bowl, mix together the heavy cream, garlic, salt, and pepper. Pour half of this mixture over the potatoes.
  4. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese and half of the Parmesan cheese over the cream.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
Baking
  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  3. Let it cool slightly, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve warm.
