Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 cups Fresh, clean snow loosely packed, ideally freshly fallen
  • 1/2 cup Sweetened condensed milk chilled is fine
  • 1/4 cup Whole milk or half-and-half for extra creaminess
  • 1 tsp Vanilla extract pure vanilla preferred
  • 1 pinch Salt balances sweetness
Optional Toppings
  • 1 drizzle Chocolate syrup optional, for serving
  • 1 sprinkle Sprinkles optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Measuring cups
  • Measuring spoons
  • Serving Spoons/Bowls

Method

Preparation
  1. Go outside and collect 8 cups of fresh, clean snow into a large mixing bowl. Ensure the snow is pure white and free from any debris or yellowing.
  2. In a separate small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, whole milk (or half-and-half), vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  3. Pour the liquid mixture over the collected snow in the large mixing bowl.
  4. Using a large spoon or spatula, quickly but gently fold and stir the snow with the liquid mixture. Continue stirring until the snow fully absorbs the liquid and transforms into a creamy, ice cream-like consistency. Work quickly to prevent the snow from melting too much.
  5. Scoop the Snow Ice Cream into individual serving bowls.
  6. Garnish with optional toppings such as chocolate syrup, sprinkles, or fresh fruit, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

Snow Quality: Only use snow that is freshly fallen and free from pollution, dirt, or ice melt chemicals. The best snow is usually from areas where it hasn't been disturbed.
Variations: For different flavors, try adding a tablespoon of cocoa powder for chocolate snow ice cream, or a few drops of food coloring for a fun visual. A touch of almond extract can also be a nice variation.
Storage: Snow ice cream is best enjoyed immediately as it doesn't store well and will turn into an icy slush if refrozen.
