  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter Can be replaced with vegetable oil for a dairy-free version.
  • 1 large egg Can be replaced with applesauce, mashed banana, or flaxseed meal mixed with water.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture. Stir until combined.
  5. If you want colorful decorations, add a few drops of food coloring and mix well.
  6. Scoop small portions of the dough and shape them into your preferred decoration—like stars, trees, or ornaments.
Baking
  1. Place the shaped decorations on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  3. Remove from the oven and let cool.
Decoration
  1. Once cool, feel free to add decorative sprinkles or icing for extra charm.

Notes

You can serve these decorations on a festive plate or platter, or use them as table centerpieces. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for about a week, or freeze for longer storage.
