Ingredients

For the Wraps
  • 2 large flour tortillas 10-12 inch
  • 4 oz fresh mozzarella bocconcini or log, thinly sliced
  • 2 medium Roma tomatoes thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves loosely packed
  • 1 cup arugula or mixed greens
For the Dressing & Seasoning
  • 2 tbsp balsamic glaze store-bought or homemade
  • 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 tsp salt or to taste
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper freshly ground, or to taste

Equipment

  • Cutting board
  • Sharp knife

Method

Prepare Ingredients
  1. On a clean cutting board, thinly slice the fresh mozzarella and Roma tomatoes. If using larger basil leaves, you can tear them gently.
  2. Wash and thoroughly dry the fresh basil leaves and arugula (or mixed greens).
Assemble the Wraps
  1. Lay each large flour tortilla flat on your work surface.
  2. Evenly distribute the arugula over the center of each tortilla, leaving a border around the edges. Follow with a layer of fresh basil leaves.
  3. Arrange the sliced mozzarella and then the sliced tomatoes over the basil. Ensure the ingredients are somewhat centered to allow for easier rolling.
  4. Drizzle each wrap generously with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze. Season lightly with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Roll and Serve
  1. To roll the wrap, fold in the sides of the tortilla over the filling, then starting from the bottom, tightly roll upwards, creating a compact wrap.
  2. For easier eating, slice each wrap in half diagonally. Serve immediately and enjoy the fresh Caprese flavors!

Notes

For a homemade balsamic glaze, simply simmer 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar in a small saucepan over medium-low heat until it reduces by half and thickens to a syrupy consistency (about 5-10 minutes). Let it cool before using.
Customize your wrap with additional ingredients like grilled chicken for added protein, sun-dried tomatoes, or a sprinkle of toasted pine nuts for extra crunch.
These wraps are best enjoyed fresh, as the tomatoes and mozzarella can release moisture over time. If preparing ahead, keep ingredients separate and assemble just before serving.
