Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 fillets Salmon fillets Fresh or thawed; skin-on or skinless.
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning Can be homemade or store-bought.
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil For drizzling.
  • 1 tablespoon Fresh lemon juice For brightness; lime can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder Can substitute with fresh garlic.
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika Smoked paprika can enhance flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper Freshly cracked is best.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt Sea salt or kosher salt recommended.

Method

Preparation
  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, combine Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt.
Cooking
  1. Drizzle the salmon fillets with olive oil, ensuring they're well-coated.
  2. Sprinkle the spice blend over both sides of the fillets, pressing gently so it adheres.
  3. Heat your grill to medium-high. If using a grill pan, place it over medium heat on the stove.
  4. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down on the grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Carefully flip and grill for another 3-4 minutes until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
Finishing
  1. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon right before serving.

Notes

Don’t overcook the salmon; it's done when it flakes easily around 125°F (for medium). Consider adding honey for caramelization or using a fish spatula for easier grilling. It's recommended to leave the skin on for moisture and flavor.
