Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the balsamic vinegar, olive oil, honey (or maple syrup), and Dijon mustard until smooth and well combined.
  2. Stir in the chopped fresh basil, salt, and pepper, adjusting to taste.
  3. Give it a taste, and feel free to add more sweetness or seasoning as needed.
  4. Use immediately for a fresh salad or transfer to a jar for storage.

Notes

This dressing keeps well in the fridge for up to one week. Store in an airtight container and shake before use. For a smooth texture, blend the ingredients in a food processor. Customize with additional herbs if desired.
